Growth and Impact Focused

Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year

Job description:

Associate Attorney – Estate Planning

20West Legal | In-Office Sudbury, MA

At 20West Legal, we’re a small but mighty estate planning firm that values grit, intelligence, humor, and getting things done the right way. We take our work seriously but not ourselves. We believe great legal work is built on strong relationships, clear communication, and a team that enjoys working together.

We’re looking for an estate planning associate who knows their craft and genuinely enjoys working with people. Someone who can guide clients through important decisions with confidence, clarity, and empathy and who understands that trust is just as important as technical skill.

If you’re organized, adaptable, collaborative, and bring a positive attitude (bonus points for a good sense of humor), you’ll fit right in.

This is an in-office role, where you’ll be part of the daily rhythm of the firm, learning, growing, contributing, and making a real impact on our clients and community.

What You’ll Do

  • Meet with clients to hear their story, educate them about the law, provide planning options, strategize a comprehensive plan and guide them through the estate planning process

  • Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, and related estate planning documents using WealthCounsel

  • Ensure all documents are accurate, compliant, and aligned with current state and federal law

  • Meet with clients to gather information, explain options, and guide them through the estate planning process

  • Review and walk clients through their completed documents to ensure understanding and confidence

  • Provide ongoing client support and respond to questions throughout the planning process

  • Collaborate closely with paralegals and administrative staff to move matters efficiently from intake to execution

  • Manage client matters from consultation through signing and completion, including tracking deadlines and next steps

  • Assist with and oversee signing ceremonies to ensure proper execution of documents

  • Maintain organized and accurate client records in firm systems

  • Participate in team meetings to review workflow, deadlines, and client progress

  • Attend firm-sponsored seminars, client appreciation events, and community outreach efforts

  • Represent the firm at professional and community events to build relationships and referral sources

  • Stay current on estate planning law through research and continuing legal education

  • Provide regular updates to the managing attorney on case status and timelines

  • Contribute ideas to improve firm-wide estate planning processes and strategies

What We’re Looking For

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Active admission to the state bar

  • 2-5 years experience very strongly preferred

  • Solid familiarity with wills, trusts, and probate concepts

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a small, fast-paced team environment

  • Professional, approachable, and client-focused demeanor

If you’re reading this and thinking, “Yep, this sounds like me,” we’d love to hear from you. Send a cover letter to dave@20westlegal.com telling us why you’d be the perfect addition to the 20West Legal team. Bonus points if your personality comes through, we care just as much about how you think and communicate as what’s on your résumé.
